Rob Halford Reflects on Performing with Dolly Parton at 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Judas Priest frontman, Rob Halford, recently shared his heartfelt experience of performing alongside legendary country music artist, Dolly Parton, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2022. During his appearance on SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard, Halford expressed his admiration for Parton and the privilege he felt to be able to share the stage with her and other iconic musicians.

At the ceremony, Halford was part of an all-star line-up, including Pink, Annie Lennox, Brandi Carlile, Pat Benatar, and Simon Le Bon, who joined Parton in a powerful rendition of her hit song "Jolene." Despite his nervousness and excitement, Halford described the experience as "very, very special."

Admitting to being a "fanboy," Halford recalled his attempts to get as close to Parton as possible, even going as far as to do the "gay hustle" to position himself next to her. He acknowledged being a bit "cringey" in his enthusiasm but expressed how unforgettable it was to be in Parton's presence.

Halford spoke highly of Parton's talents, describing her as a "walking beacon of love and happiness and joy that she spreads." He also recognized her as the epitome of perseverance, someone who believed in herself and the people around her, even in the face of difficulties and challenges. For Halford, the opportunity to sing a few famous lines from "Jolene" alongside Parton was a dream come true, and he expressed his gratitude for the experience.

The ceremony took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and Halford believes that it will be remembered as one of the most remarkable Rock and Roll Hall of Fame events to date. The collaboration between Halford and Parton on "Jolene" was a testament to the power of music to bring people together, regardless of their backgrounds or genres. It was a moment that both artists and fans will cherish for years to come.
