Nets Suffer Historic Loss to Bulls After Lackluster Performance
The Brooklyn Nets faced one of their worst defeats in years on Friday night, losing to the Chicago Bulls in a wire-to-wire thrashing. After coming back from the All-Star break, the Nets played as if their minds were still on vacation, resulting in a historic rout. The team played one of their worst halves in history, shooting just 24.4 percent in the first half, and falling behind 63-29 at halftime. The Bulls dominated the game, leading by as many as 50 points in the fourth quarter.
Head coach Jacque Vaughn took accountability for the loss, telling his team to own the defeat and improve. Despite a 22-point performance by Cam Thomas off the bench, the Nets struggled to find their rhythm and only scored 34 points from their starting lineup.
The Nets have struggled in recent games, going 3-5 since Kyrie Irving's trade demand derailed their title hopes. Their lead on the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference has been cut to just one game by the New York Knicks. If the Nets continue to play like this, they could soon find themselves looking up at their cross-river rivals.
The defeat to the Bulls came against a struggling team that had lost six straight games before their matchup with the Nets. The loss has highlighted the need for the Nets to find some scoring options and regain their focus before their next game.
