Chicago Bulls Add Veteran Guard Patrick Beverley for Rest of the NBA Season

The Chicago Bulls have made a move to bolster their backcourt, reportedly signing veteran guard Patrick Beverley for the remainder of the NBA season. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bulls front office hopes that Beverley's toughness and defensive skills will help propel the team back into playoff contention.

Beverley, who played 45 games with the Los Angeles Lakers this season, averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 34.8 percent from beyond the arc. Although he is no longer at the All-Defensive level, the 34-year-old guard is known for his relentless defense and ability to pester opposing guards.

Beverley's most notable moments with the Lakers this season include a three-game suspension for shoving Deandre Ayton in the back and taking a camera from a courtside photographer to show referees a foul on LeBron James during a loss to the Boston Celtics.

After being traded by the Lakers to the Orlando Magic at the deadline, Beverley was waived by the Magic, allowing him to become a free agent. He now joins his hometown team, the Bulls, making them his fourth team in the last three seasons.

The Bulls currently have one of the best defenses in the league, with a 112.0 defensive rating placing them seventh overall. Beverley's signing is expected to further strengthen their defensive capabilities and help them push for a playoff spot.
